    • A wire-cut electric discharge machine which improves contact between a wire electrode and a conducting member without deforming the wire electrode to suppress production of minute electric discharges and reduce unnecessary loads on the wire electrode and the wire-cut electric discharge machine, and which makes it easy to make space on a wire traveling path to carry out automatic wire connection easily. In a wire-cut electric discharge machine having a conducting member for supplying an wire electrode with electric power for electric discharge machining, and making the wire electrode travel along a traveling path, sliding on the conducting member, a movable member capable of being moved nearer to and away from the conducting member is provided in a position opposite to the conducting member relative to the traveling path. By this arrangement, the contact between the wire electrode and the conducting member can be always kept without deforming the wire electrode.

    • A wire electric discharge machining apparatus according to the present invention includes a plurality of guide rollers 3a through 3f, one electrode wire 2 that is wrapped around each of the plurality of guide rollers 3a through 3f to form a plurality of cut wire portions 2a spaced from one another between a pair of the guide rollers 3a, 3b, a processing power supply 6 that feeds electric power to the individual cut wire portions 2a through a power feed element 7, and a high frequency insulator 4 that has coils 21 which are formed of the electrode wire 2 wound around between adjacent ones of said cut wire portions 2a, respectively, and cores 41 a which close magnetic circuits of the individual coils 21, respectively, and are magnetically insulated from one another. The power feed element 7 is arranged between the individual cut wire portions 2a and the individual coils 21, and the individual cut wire portions 2a are insulated from one another by the individual coils 21 in a high frequency manner. As a result, it becomes possible to independently impress voltages to the individual cut wire portions, so discharges can be generated in a simultaneous and parallel manner.

    • A current pickup assembly for placing electrical current on a moving wire electrode (12) in an electrical discharge machine apparatus and having a normal straight line of travel. The current pickup assembly includes a current pickup (36) having a bore (38) therethrough for receiving the wire electrode (12). The bore longitudinal axis (R) is at an angle (α) with respect to the normal straight line of wire travel and the moving wire electrode (12) contacts the bore contact wall (40) therein. A pivot means is provided for selectively pivoting the carbide pickup longitudinal axis (R) at an angle (α) with respect to the straight line of wire travel. A rotation means rotates the current pickup (36) about the bore longitudinal axis (R). In the alternative, the current pickup is supported on a gimball means for selectively pivoting the pickup about two mutually perpendicular and intersecting axes of rotation (X, Y) intersecting at a point (42). A control shaft (46) connected to the current pickup (36) and engaged with a connecting rod (54) are driven by a drive means (m) through a variable displacement means. Thus, selective angular displacement of the bore longitudinal axis from the normal straight line of wire travel and also rotational movement of the bore longitudinal axis about the normal straight line of wire travel are provided.
