摘要： Provided are a new tool radius adjusting method in a machine tool and a new machine tool that are capable of automatically adjusting a tool radius differently from a prior-art automatic adjusting method. At a contact step, a reference portion 52c of a movable body 52 and a position adjusting reference member 83 are brought into contact by sliding the movable body 52 relative to a housing 51 so that the position of a cutting blade 70 comes to a predetermined position in a direction to go away from a rotational axis. Then, at an adjusting step, the position of the cutting blade 70 relative to the rotational axis is adjusted by changing the relative position between a tool spindle 2 and the position adjusting reference member 83 in a direction to come close to each other by drive means that is used for positioning a spindle head 102 relative to a workpiece in machining the workpiece with the cutting blade 70.

When controlling the pressure oil supply 10 to cause a jaw portion 28 to perform a clamping operation, during movement of the jaw portion 28 from an unclamping position to a preliminary position situated before a clamping position, the chuck controller 42 supplies pressure oil set at a first pressure into a cylinder chamber for clamping 35 to move the jaw portion 28 quickly, and during movement of the jaw portion 28 from the preliminary position to the clamping positon, the chuck controller 42 supplies pressure oil set at a second pressure lower than the first pressure into the cylinder chamber for clamping 35 to move the jaw portion 28 slowly.
