In the wire rolling apparatus (1) comprising a rotary drive system having a pair of handles (8, 8) as part thereof and intermediate gears (20, 20) for transmitting the driving rotation from a drive source to the upper and lower rollers (40, 30) by way of the intermediate gears (20, 20), each of the intermediate gears (20, 20) is held in engagement with a transmission gear (9) rigidly fitted to a main shaft (5) and a drive gear (31) of the lower roller (30). The transmission gear (9) and a coupling wheel (11) are arranged between each of the handles (8, 8) and the main shaft (5), the coupling wheel (11) being urged in one direction and slidable on the main shaft (5), such that the coupling wheel (11) may be moved to slide by way of a plunger (14) slidable along the axis of the main shaft (5) in order to interrupt the connection with said coupling portion (7) by operating a maneuvering lever (13) pivotally supported at an end thereof by the handle (8).
