    • The present invention provides a method of controlling a continuous polymerization process where at least one olefin is polymerized in a polymerization reactor in the presence of a catalyst comprising a solid catalyst component further comprising a transition metal, and an activator, said method comprising the steps of:
      (i) providing a set point for the feed rate of said solid catalyst component into the polymerization reactor;
      (ii) providing a set point for a ratio of the activator feed rate to the solid catalyst component feed rate;
      (iii) controlling the feed rate of said solid catalyst component into the polymerization reactor to follow said set point for the feed rate of said solid catalyst component;
      (iv) calculating a set point for the feed rate of said activator from said set point for the feed rate of said solid catalyst component and said set point for the ratio of the activator feed rate to the solid catalyst component feed rate;
      (v) controlling the feed rate of said activator into the polymerization reactor to follow said set point for the feed rate of said activator.
      The present method results in a stable operation of the polymerization reactor and allows the production of polymers having consistent product properties.

    • The present invention relates to an apparatus for the purification of waste water which comprises a reactor (1) having a height H and an average cross-sectional dimension D, whereby the ratio H/D is 2-40, preferably 2-10. There is a liquid introduction device at the bottom of the reactor and a three-phase separator situated on top of the reactor. Situated substantially between this three-phase separator and the reactor, are one or more gas collection compartments (7) positioned to lead away 30-80%, preferably 50-80%, of the gas leaving the reactor, before entering the three phase separator, this gas being led directly to the gas collection compartment (9) of the three phase separator.
      Moreover a fluidized-bed process is provided in which granular sludge or sludge attached to a carrier is used for the anaerobic purification whereby 30-80% biogas leaving the reactor is led away, before the remainder of the gas, the liquid, and the solids leaving the reactor are substantially separated from each other.
