摘要： Disclosed herein is a syringe sterilization and disposal unit which utilizes a micro-processor controlled artificial intelligence for operation of the necessary functions to render a used syringe safe for disposal. The syringe sterilization unit includes an "opto-sensor" for signaling the positioning of the syringe for further clamping and processing operations. The lure of a syringe to be processed is exposed to heat from the heat heads to effect separation of the needle. The needle tip gripper jaw heads extract the syringe needle from the syringe body. The heat heads are further used to compress the lure of the syringe body to seal the syringe cavity. The extracted needle is then heated by a needle tip contactor for sterilization whereupon the needle and the sealed syringe cavity are then positioned into an appropriate bin for disposal and/or recycling.

摘要： A device for the destruction of an injection needle has a sleeve (6, 14) in which the needle (3) mounted on a syringe may be inserted. The sleeve includes projections (9, 16) located beneath one another and projecting from opposite sides towards the path of movement of the needle within the sleeve. The projections are forced, by means of an actuator (5, 16) which is movably disposed in the sleeve and, as a result of engagement with the needle holder (4) is entrained in the movement of the needle, to move towards and into the path of movement of the needle so that the needle is bent or broken between these projections and is, in such a manner, rendered unusable.

摘要： The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for safe disposal of hypodermic syringes, needles and other small, contaminated instruments such as, for example, scalpel blades, stitch cutters etc. (commonly referred to as 'sharps'). The apparatus firstly comprises a collection container (30) having a primary lid (31) which is movable between an open position and a closed position, and is releasably latched in the closed position. The latch mechanism (34) is adapted to be released when the container is brought into cooperation with a destructor apparatus (10). The destructor apparatus comprises a disposal receptacle (55) adapted to receive the container and unlatch the lid, and a destructor means (20, 13, 14) adapted to generally comminute the materials deposited therein. The destructor apparatus has an inlet (15) and an outlet (16), a plurality of rotating blades (20) which cooperate with two cutting plates (13, 14) which are arranged to define a flow path for the materials between the inlet and the outlet. The cutting blades and cutting plates cooperate to comminute the material by impact and cutting action. The present invention provides a convenient means of disposing of sharps generally without risk to the person handling the sharps.

摘要： The plastic syringe destruction device employs a cylinder and piston compaction unit together with heat to thermally smash plastic syringes (15) into a compacted mass or slug. During compaction, the syringes (15) are heated to temperatures between 100°C and 200°C to bring about melting of the syringes (15) as well as sterilization. 摘要： A system for disposing of large amounts of infectious hospital waste includes a generally sealed enclosure containing an apparatus for delivery, disintegration, and decontamination of waste materials. A conveyor arrangement provides a positive delivery of large waste containers to be disposed to a disintegrator while preventing material from being thrown from the disintegrator. The disintegrator comprises two disintegrating, processors including at least one rotating hammermill, so as to jointly be capable of effectively disintegrating articles of substantial size. In one embodiment two large counter-rotating hammermills are utilized. The system enclosure is maintained at a negative pressure and adapted to prevent escape of airborne contamination from the system. A variety of protective features are also incorporated into the system to clear the disintegrator in cases of overload, to avoid power surges upon system start-up, and to effect an orderly shutdown of the system.
