摘要： The invention relates to an enteral feeding tube comprising a jejunal tube (2) which is arranged in jejunum and comprises a proximal end, a distal end (3, 4), and a lumen (5) between said two ends. Said tube (2) comprises an at least double-layer structure with an outer first layer (2a) and a second layer (2b) adjacent to the outer layer, the first layer (2a) consisting of a material which is harder than the material of the second layer (2b). Preferably, the tube has a triple-layer structure with an outer layer (2a), an inner layer (2b), and an internal layer (2c), the internal layer (2b) being softer than the outer and inner layers (2a, 2c). The multiple-layer structure of the tube consisting of materials of different hardnesses improves the flexibility, advancing behaviour and buckling resistance of the feeding tube. The invention also relates to a tube system consisting of the feeding tube and a gastric tube.

摘要： A surgical tool (10) for use in initial placement of a gastrostomy device in a patient includes an obturator (20), a cannula (14) and an outer flexible tubular member (16). A pointed end (38) of the obturator and an adjacent dilator (18) cooperate to incise a tract through the abdominal and stomach walls of the patient. The obturator is removed, leaving the cannula and outer tubular member in place. A deformable section (44) of the flexible tubular member is expanded by movement of the cannula. The outwardly deformed section is then pulled up against the inner wall of the stomach wherein the thickness of the stomach and abdominal walls can be measured by use of visible scale indicia (48) carried on the external surface of the flexible tubular member. Subsequent to the noted measurement, a guide wire or pull wire (108) is passed through a lumen provided by the cannula. The guide wire is used for placing a gastrostomy device of suitable size in the incised tract.

摘要： A low profile or skin level gastrostomy device (20) for initial endoscopic placement in an incision provided through the stomach (64) and abdominal walls (62) of a patient having a collapsed resilient end portion (24) packaged and compressed within a shroud (30) that allows the end portion (24) of the device (20) positioned within the stomach (61) to easily pass from the inner to the outer end of the incision. The shroud (30) is pulled or pushed outwardly through the incision until the device (20) is properly positioned therein. Subsequent to device placement, the shroud (30) is removed and discarded, allowing the now external end portion (24) of the device (20) to expand to its normal position so as to engage the outer surface of the abdominal wall (62) to maintain the device (20) in position. Such a gastrostomy device package (10) and method of placement avoid the need for establishing a fistulas stoma tract before placement of a low profile gastrostomy device, as is usual.
