摘要： A method of making and a disposable garment manufactured from a fusion-slit chassis having a pair of seams. The seams are formed by folding the chassis in the crotch portion so that the longitudinal side regions of the front portion and rear portion are superposed to form seaming areas; each seaming area is treated with ultrasonic energy sufficient to sever the material of the seaming area in a first area while simultaneously bonding the material of the seaming area in a marginal area adjacent the first area to form a flangeless seam which extends from the disposable garment 1/16'' or less, preferably 1/32'' or less, and in a preferred embodiment will form a splice between the front portion and rear portion of the chassis. The seaming area will consist of layers of polymeric material and in a preferred embodiment will consist of nonwoven webs of 100 % polypropylene fibers.

The disposable pull-on garment further includes at least one pair of extensible ear panels extending laterally outward from the chassis in the front or back region. Each of the ear panels has an outermost edge line. In one aspect of the present invention, at least one of the outermost edge lines has a nonuniform lateral distance from the longitudinal center line in the uncontracted state of the garment. The ear panels are joined to the chassis along the corresponding edge lines to form two leg openings and a waist opening. In another aspect of the present invention, each of the ear panels is joined to the chassis along the corresponding edge lines to form a seaming line, thereby forming two leg openings and a waist opening. At least one of the seaming lines has a nonuniform lateral distance from the longitudinal center line in the uncontracted state of the garment.

摘要： A method for forming a composite elastic material. An elastic member having at least one elastic strand is fed onto a rotating forming structure exhibiting a multiplicity of apertures therein. The elastic member has a surface facing the forming structure and another surface facing away from the forming structure. A thermoplastic film is extruded onto the surface of the elastic member facing away from the forming structure. A pneumatic vacuum is applied to the thermoplastic film and the elastic member so that the thermoplastic film is simultaneously apertured and bonded to the elastic member thereby forming a breathable composite elastic material.

摘要： Absorbent articles such as disposable diapers, incontinent briefs, diaper holders, training pants, and the like, that provide dynamic fit about the wearer by the use of elasticized hip panels. Such absorbent articles comprise a liquid pervious topsheet; a liquid impervious backsheet; an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet; elasticized side panels positioned in the side panels of the back waist region; and an elasticized hip panel positioned in the central region of the back waist region. The elasticized hip panel comprises a stretch laminate comprising one or more elongatable components and an elastic hip panel member that are mechanically stretched to allow expansion of the stretch laminate beyond the original planar state of the diaper in the lateral direction. By adding stretch to the middle-back of the absorbent article, the absorbent article is capable of expanding in the back waist region thereby creating a more three-dimensional fit to better contour the hips and buttocks and to more completely wrap the wearer's hips and buttocks. In an alternative embodiment, a single elastic hip panel member is positioned in most of the central region of the back waist region with the stretch laminate being mechanically stretched in selected zones or preferably over the entire area of the elastic hip panel member. The absorbent core is either stretchable or preferably not attached to the stretch laminate in the mechanically stretched zones to not encumber the stretch of the stretch laminate. The topsheet is also preferably stretchable.

The elasticized thigh panels (154) comprise a stretch laminate (156) that is mechanically streched so that the elasticized thigh panel (154) is capable of expanding beyond the original planar state of the absorbent article (20) in at least one direction at an angle from the longitudinal direction.

摘要： A system for removing and donning a disposable absorbent article by using a separate robotic device includes an absorbent assembly having an inner layer that partly defines a body-facing surface, an outer layer that defines a garment-facing surface, and an absorbent body disposed between the inner and outer layers. The absorbent assembly also includes a pair of ears extending transversely outward from the opposite sides of the absorbent assembly in the back waist region, each of the ears including a body-facing surface with a primary first fastening-component that is selectively engageable with a primary second fastening-component in the front waist region of the absorbent assembly in a wear configuration of the article, and a garment-facing surface opposite the body-facing surface. The absorbent article also includes a manipulation-enablement feature configured to assist the post-retail manipulation of the absorbent article by the robotic device.
