摘要： A method in which a digital picture of the tip of a dental scaler tool and other uniquely identifying characteristics is used to measure the extent of wear on the tool. Unique characteristics of the dental scaler tool, such as color and shape of the grip, narrow a set of reference images to a subset of likely matching tip reference images. A digital contour of the worn tip is isolated. Characteristics of the physical shape of each available tips have been stored in a digital library of reference images. The same tip shape characteristics are developed for the tip contour that were stored for each reference image. The digital profile of the worn tip and a matching, selected reference image of the tip from a library of digitally overlaid. An accurate measurement of the extent of wear of the insert tip is made and displayed.

a.) eine Basiskomponente, enthaltend Wasser und Feuchthaltemittel,
b.) einen Putzkörper,
c.) eine Pufferkomponente,
d.) eine Komponente zur Steuerung der Rheologie,
e.) eine Additivkomponente, wobei die Additive ausgewählt sind aus einer Liste umfassend Stabilisatoren, Farbstoffe, Pigmente und Fluoridierungsmittel,
wobei die Prophylaxepaste als Putzkörper b.) eine Verbindung auf der Basis von Calciumphosphat in Kombination mit Bimsstein enthält und als Netzmittel
f.) ausschließlich ein oder mehrere amphotere(s) Tensid(e) aufweist,
wobei die Pufferkomponente c.) auf Hydrogenphosphatbasis basiert und den pH-Wert der Prophylaxepaste, ermittelt in einer 10 %igen Suspension (w/w) der Paste in Wasser gegen eine pH-Elektrode, zwischen 7 und 8 hält.

摘要： In a dental prophylaxis angle, an angle housing defines a main passageway and an ancillary passageway communicating therewith and extending at a substantial angle thereto. A drive shaft extends through the main passageway, while a cup holder is rotatably disposed in the ancillary passageway, the cup holder being drivingly coupled to the drive shaft. A flexible prophy cup is mounted to the cup holder, and a bearing is rotatably disposed in the main passageway about the drive shaft. The bearing has a snap-lock element projecting into a recess provided in the housing, thereby fixing a longitudinal position of the bearing with respect to the housing and holding the drive shaft in driving engagement with the cup holder. The prophy cup is coupled to the cup holder via a ball and socket joint and is provided in a region about the ball and socket joint with a flexible skirt defining an annular groove, the cup holder having an annular seat projecting into the groove. The seat preferably has an outer surface inclined at an angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of the cup holder. The skirt engages the outer surface of the seat and bends upon such engagement during use of the prophylaxis angle. In addition, the prophy cup is provided with outwardly extending projections in the groove, the seat being formed with inwardly extending teeth meshing with the projections for driving the cup.
