摘要： An apparatus for opening or closing a tissue opening in a biological subject, the apparatus including at least two flexible arms coupled to a tissue surface in use, each arm being curved outwardly in a mid-portion to accommodate a tissue opening therebetween and a biasing mechanism that selectively biases opposing ends of each arm to thereby at least one of bias mid-portions of the arms apart to assist in at least partially opening the tissue opening; and bias mid-portions of the arms towards each other to assist in at least partially closing the tissue opening.

摘要： A device, providing enlargement and preventing collapse, of the pupil of the eye, during an ophthalmic surgical procedure. The device, configured as a continuous or discontinuous ring, comprises plurality of notches at corners and flanges at sides. The ring is formed from a strand of resiliently flexible material and is disposed entirely within a single plane. The notches engage the pupillary margin at different parts, pushing them apart, resulting in sustained enlargement of the pupil. In addition, the device causes bending of the pupillary margin and iris at the notches and above and below the flanges, resulting in a secure engagement. The enlarged pupil created by the ring, allows a wide view of the structures deeper to the pupillary plane, previously obscured due to a small pupil.

摘要： A laparoscopic tool for surgery on an internal body tissue of a patient. The laparoscopic tool comprises a main body to which is affixed an attachment. The main body has a main aperture for fixing a compatible anchor. The attachment has a support member connected to the main body, and a needle portion connected to the support member. The needle portion has an interlocking mechanism to interlock with the support member. The attachment is deployable from a first position aligned with the main body, for insertion through a laparoscopic port, to a second position unaligned with the main body, for insertion into a tissue and for anchoring the tool to the tissue. A method of performing a laparoscopic surgery using the laparoscopic tool, the use of the laparoscopic tool for laparoscopic surgery, and kits for laparoscopic surgery comprising the laparoscopic tool and the compatible anchor are also disclosed.

摘要： A resilient compressive surgical retractor securing device with capture assembly includes a compressive securing device that compressively joins the resilient compressive surgical retractor securing device with capture assembly to a surgical accessory bar of a halo style head fixation device and a capture assembly that releasably retains the elasticized band of a scalp hook retractor. The compressive securing device is formed with an arm that is configured to form a neck for receiving the surgical accessory bar or other external support between the arm and the compressive securing device. The arm may be resilient or non-resilient, and may employ releasable closures to close the neck. The capture assembly may include a pivotable cam that releasably retains the elasticized band of a scalp hook retractor by compressing the band between the cam and the surgical accessory bar or other external support.
