    • An animal feeding system is provided. The feeding system includes a container that holds dry pet food, and a receptacle that gravitationally receives the pet food. The system also provides a conveyor system. The conveyor system moves the dry pet food from the receptacle and to a feeding bowl. Additionally, the animal feeding system includes a micro-processor. The micro-processor is configured to deliver start and stop signals to a motor in response to wireless signals sent from a control unit. The animal feeding system additionally comprises the control unit. The control unit offers a user interface for programming the system according to a desired feeding schedule. A method for feeding an animal using the feeding system is also provided herein.

    • Dietary compositions for ingestion by ruminants and methods for feeding the dietary compositions to ruminants are disclosed. The dietary compositions may include ruminant feed products having at least one saturated fatty acid component including at least about 90% of a palmitic acid compound. The ruminant feed product may be fed to the ruminant according to a feed program that is based on physical characteristics and/or a time period associated with the ruminant. For example, an amount of the ruminant feed product fed to the ruminant may be based on the calving cycle and/or lactation cycle of the ruminant and one of a body weight or a milk yield of the ruminant. Ingestion of the ruminant feed product by a ruminant according to the feed program may increase the milk yield and/or the milk fat content of milk produced by the ruminant.

    • A puzzle pet toy and treat dispenser (100) comprising a housing (101, 102), a lid (200), an inner chamber (300), a drum aperture (400), a motor assembly (500), and an external chamber (104). The inner chamber (300) is divided by a plurality of vertical radial walls (304), creating a plurality of containers (305) formed by the inner surface of the vertical radial walls (304), a plurality of tangential walls (302) parallel to the vertical surface of the drum aperture (400), the inner surface of the drum aperture (400), and the lid (200). The plurality of containers (305) hold non-liquid pet treats, and an opening (403) on the drum aperture (400) aligned vertically with the tangential walls (302) allows the pet treat on a given container (305) to be released into the external chamber (104), where said treats can be dispensed outside of the pet toy and treat dispenser (100) during play. A motor assembly (500) rotates the drum aperture (400) to the next opening (303), creating a revolver action to dispense the contents of the next chamber (305). The toy (100) can be programmed to rotate the aperture (400) at given time intervals, so the pet (600) can receive treats on a predetermined schedule while the owner is away. The motor assembly (500) also contains a means of noise generation (507) during the rotating action to attract the pet (600) to come and play with the toy (100).

    • A feeder is provided for animals selected from domestic pets, cage birds, chickens, fish and wild birds. The feeder has a hopper (3) adapted to hold a supply of dry feed. A chamber (4) is adapted to receive feed by gravity from a lower portion of the hopper (3), and has a discharge outlet (100) at one axial end of the chamber (4). A passage (105) is defined from and includes the chamber (4) and extends to an opening at the distal end of the discharge outlet (100) for discharge of feed from the feeder. An auger (11) is mounted for rotation about an axis within said chamber (4). The auger (11) is adapted as it rotates to move feed along the passage (105) to be discharged at the distal end of the discharge outlet (100). A shutter is adapted to occlude the passage (105) and is provided within the discharge outlet (100). The shutter is coupled to and rotates with the auger (11). The shutter has a forward edge and a trailing edge (122) defined in relation to the direction of rotation. The discharge outlet (100) is provided with an enlarged end portion (118). The enlarged end portion (118) has an outer wall (126) spaced from the passage (105) such that as the forward edge progressively occludes the passage (105) as the shutter rotates, any feed between the outer wall (126) and the forward edge of the shutter simply falls from the enlarged end portion (118). A drive system couples an electric motor to the auger (11) to provide drive thereto. The drive system is adapted in use to cause the electric motor to rotate the auger (11) through a discrete number of completed 360° turns such that when the auger (11) is not rotating the passage (105) is fully occluded by the shutter.
