摘要： A system for connecting superconducting tapes in a superconducting fault current limiter (SCFCL) system is disclosed. The novel connector system allows two superconducting tapes to be installed in a single opening in a connector stack. This reduced the height of the connector stack by nearly 50%, making the SCFCL system more efficient and smaller in volume. In one embodiment, each connector has a recessed portion on both the top and bottom surfaces, such that when stacked on another connector, the recessed portions align, forming a larger opening. In another embodiment, the connector has a single recessed portion that can accommodate two superconducting tapes. The superconducting tapes may be disposed in a protective sleeve.

摘要： A fault current limiter system including a fault current limiter and a variable shunt current splitting device. The current splitting device includes first and second conductive windings, wherein the first conductive winding is connected in parallel with the fault current limiter and is configured to carry current in a first direction. The second conductive winding is electrically connected in series with the fault current limiter and is configured to carry current in a second direction opposite to the first direction so that the reactance of the first winding is negated by the reactance of the second winding during steady state operation of the fault current limiter system. Thus, a first portion of a steady state current is conveyed through the fault current limiter and a second portion of the current is conveyed through the current splitting device. The steady state current load on the fault current limiter is thereby reduced.

摘要： An improved method of doping a substrate is disclosed. The method is particularly beneficial to the creation of interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells. A paste having a dopant of a first conductivity is applied to the surface of the substrate. This paste serves as a mask for a subsequent ion implantation step, allowing ions of a dopant having an opposite conductivity to be introduced to the portions of the substrate which are exposed. After the ions are implanted, the mask can be removed and the dopants may be activated, Methods of using an aluminum- based and phosphorus-based paste are disclosed.
