摘要： The present invention generally relates to devices able to purify fluids electrically that are contained within pressure vessels, as well as to methods of manufacture and use thereof. Liquids or other fluids to be purified enter the purification device and, under the influence of an electric field, are treated to produce an ion-depleted liquid. Species from the entering liquids are collected to produce an ion-concentrated liquid. Increasing the exterior pressure on the device may reduce the pressure difference between the interior of the device and the exterior, which may reduce manufacturing costs or simplify construction.

摘要： A process and apparatus for membrane treatment of a feed liquid to form a product liquid includes feeding a feed liquid, typically an aqueous solution such as tap water, to a primary membrane. The primary membrane separates the feed liquid into a primary membrane retentate which is retained by the primary membrane, and a primary membrane permeate. The primary membrane retentate is then fed to one or more supplemental primary membranes, or to a secondary membrane. The primary membrane retentate (or supplemental primary membrane retentate if a supplemental primary membrane is employed) is separated by the secondary membrane into a secondary membrane retentate which is retained by the secondary membrane, and a secondary membrane permeate passes through the secondary membrane. The secondary membrane retentate may either be collected and disposed of, or may be fed to one or more supplemental secondary membranes. If the secondary membrane retentate is fed to a supplemental secondary membrane, the secondary membrane retentate (or retentate from a prior supplemental secondary membrane) is separated into a supplemental secondary membrane retentate and supplemental secondary membrane permeate. The final product liquid is formed by blending the primary membrane permeate with the secondary membrane permeate and, if applicable, all supplemental primary membrane permeates and supplemental secondary membrane permeates.

摘要： Apparatus and method for regenerating spent pickling liquor from the acid pickling of a metal are disclosed. Acid pickling of a metal uses a first acid and forms a spent pickling liquor (SPL). A second acid added to the spent pickling liquor, under specificlow temperatures produces a metal salt of the second acid. The me salt of the second acid is crystallized and removed from a regen first acid. In one aspect, hydrochloric acid is regenerated fropickling process for iron or steel, using sulfuric acid as the seacid, and ferrous sulfate heptahydrate crystals are produced. Regenerated hydrochloric acid is recycled to the acid pickling process.

摘要： An apparatus for treating water includes a vertically extending contact vessel, wherein water is contacted with ozone, and a return vessel which contains a column of water of a sufficient height to drive water through downstream filtering stages. Ozone is removed from the water and the rate of ozone injection is monitored and automatically adjusted so that no great amount of ozone remains in water entering the filtering stages. The ozone is generated in elongated elements that are cooled by the process water and that are positioned to serve as a static mixer for such water.
