摘要： An easily-assembled, heat resistant connector (11) for releasably joining end portions of three capillary tubes (13,14,15) for use in chromatography without interrupting flow or interfering with chromatographic results comprises a main body (17), and a glass insert (19) which has first (19a), second (19b) and third (19c) hollow legs that are connected together at a central portion (19d), and a connector that connects each leg of the glass insert to a capillary tube. Each leg of the glass insert extends outwardly from the central portion towards an open end portion, and each leg has an inboard bore with a taper that receives and end portion of one of the capillary tubes. The taper is wider near the open end portion of the leg and narrower near the central portion. The connectors are mounted on the main body and a sealing ferrule (29) is provided in each connector for making a seal between the capillary tubes and the legs of the glass insert. An adjusting screw in each connector provides for independently adjusting the pressure against each of the sealing ferrules to insure that an efficient seal is made between each capillary tube and a leg of the glass insert.

摘要： An easily-assembled, heat-resistant connector for releasably joining end portions of two capillary tubes (13,15) in end-to-end fashion for use in chromatography without interrupting fluid flow or interfering with chromatographic results, comprises a cylindrical sleeve (17,51,83) which has a bore (17b,51c,83c) which tapers toward a center point to form press-fit seals with the tips of two capillary tubes. A first ferrule (25,57,89) is mounted on the end portion of a first capillary tube (13), and a second ferrule (31,63,95) is mounted on the end portion of a second capillary tube (15). A jacket (37,94) surrounds and contains the sleeve, and a first adjustment screw (39,69,103) mounted on the jacket pushes against the first ferrule to deform the ferrule into sealing contact with the outside surface of the first capillary tube and with the inside surface of the sleeve. A second adjustment screw (41,71,105) mounted on the jacket pushes against the second ferrule to deform the ferrule into sealing contact with the outside surface of the second capillary tube and with the inside surface of the sleeve. The pressure on the first ferrule may be adjusted individually and independently of the pressure on the second ferrule and the pressure on the second ferrule, may be adjusted individually and independently of the pressure on the first ferrule. The pressure from the ferrules also hold the press-fit seals in sealing contact.

摘要： An acoustic displacement flowmeter for determining flow rate of a fluid has a fluid flow line defining a flow path for the fluid. The fluid flow line has an inlet and an outlet. A controllable valve is positioned along the fluid flow line for opening and closing the flow path as desired, and an acoustic displacement transducer having a fluid port is coupled to the fluid flow line upstream from the controllable valve. The outlet of the fluid flow line extends through a wall isolating fluid exhausted from the outlet of the fluid flow line from electrical and/or mechanical components residing inside the flowmeter, thereby preventing the exhausted fluid, if explosive, from contacting such electrical and/or mechanical components which may act as potential ignition sources. 摘要： A method of passivating the interior surface of a gas storage vessel to protect the surface against corrosion. The interior surface of the vessel is first dehydrated and then evacuated. A silicon hydride gas is introduced into the vessel. The vessel and silicon hydride gas contained therein are heated and pressurized to decompose the gas. A layer of silicon is deposited on the interior surface of the vessel. The duration of the silicon depositing step is controlled to prevent the formation of silicon dust in the vessel. The vessel is then purged with an inert gas to remove the silicon hydride gas. The vessel is cycled through the silicon depositing step until the entire interior surface of the vessel is covered with a layer of silicon. The vessel is then evacuated and cooled to room temperature.

摘要： A reticulated annular capillary GC column is disclosed including a capillary wall, a core disposed within the capillary wall, an annulus disposed between the capillary wall and the core, and vanes disposed in the annulus. The vanes extend along the length of the capillary wall for less than the length of the capillary wall. The vanes define a reticulated flow path through the annulus. The vanes structurally support the core within the capillary wall. A method for forming the reticulated annular capillary GC column is disclosed including forming a preform master pattern by an additive manufacturing technique, the preform master pattern including a preform wall, a preform core, a preform annulus disposed between the preform wall and the preform core, and struts disposed in the preform annulus. A preform is cast from the preform master pattern, and the preform is drawn down, forming the reticulated annular capillary GC column.
