摘要： An improvement in an electrical resistance welding apparatus that includes a welder having a frame and a hand for moving electrodes into and out of clamping engagement with a workpiece is disclosed. The electromagnetic clamping device (44) includes an electromagnet (50) mounted to the positioning actuator (42) and a ring (52) of magnetic material mounted to the welder frame (56) wherein the electromagnet (50) and the ring (52) are in a normally spaced relationship when the electromagnet (50) is deenergized and such that the ring (52) is adjacent the electromagnet (50) when the electrodes are in clamping engagement with the workpiece.

Applying current in the coil causes the piston to move upward, and interrupting the current causes the piston to move downward.

摘要： A method of assembling an annular magnet (16) and a pole piece (14) in a chamber (22) of a cyclindrical core (12) at a predetermined height is disclosed. The magnet assembly tool (50) has a firstportion (52) with a diameter of approximately the diameter of thechamber less the width of the annular magnet and a second portion(54) with a diameter of approximately the width of the chamber. 摘要： A field coil actuator (50) includes a magnetic flux conductive material case (52), an electrical current conductive field coil (54) and two electrical current conductive moving coils (56a, 56b) uniquely arranged. The case has a first surface (58) and a continuous channel (60) disposed in said first surface. The channel has a pair of opposing walls (62, 64). The field coil is disposed within the channel between the walls so that a gap (55a) remains between the walls above the field coil and another gap (55b) remains between the walls below the field coil. When a current is induced in the field coil, magnetic flux is developed across the gaps. The flux is confined substantially normal to the walls of the channel. The electrical current conductive moving coils are each disposed moveably in one of the gaps such that an electrical current in the coil develops a Lorentz force on each of the coils in a direction substantially normal to the current in the moving coil and the magnetic flux to displace the moving coil in response to the current in the moving coil.
