    • A method for mounting a rotary valve (1) for hydraulic power assisted steering systems, which can be used for a rotary valve having the following features: both valve elements of the rotary valve have longitudinal control grooves (3, 4, 7, 8); interacting control edges (5, 6, 10, 11) of the longitudinal control grooves (3, 4, 7, 8) of the control bushing (1) and the rotary valve (2) are arranged in a parallel position to each other and converge towards each other in an oblique manner at the same angle in relation to the longitudinal axis of the rotary valve. The inventive method comprises the following steps: the rotary valve (2) is pushed inside the control bushing (1) directly in front of a stop (21) in the region of an output member (13) of the valve. Both valve elements of said rotary valve are aligned in a median position and rotationally clamped in relation to a torsion bar spring (12). In order to determine the course of a basic characteristic curve (22), the rotary valve is fully displaced on both sides and the pressure/angle or pressure/torque ratio is maintained. The basic characteristic curve (22) is compared with a desired nominal characteristic curve from a predefined family of nominal characteristics (valve characteristics 16-20). The rotary valve (2) is displaced in an axial position until the desired nominal characteristic is reached to at least a certain predefined point. The rotary valve (2) is then finally connected to the torsion bar spring (12) where it is rotationally blocked.
