    • Disclosed is a synchronous belt wheel (ZS) for designing a synchronous belt drive. Said synchronous belt wheel (ZS) comprises at least two toothed disks (S1, S2) that are disposed parallel to each other and drive a toothed belt, respectively. The toothed disks (S1, S2) are provided with a similar toothing encompassing tips (ZK) and tooth gaps (ZL). The toothings are arranged so as to be offset relative to each other by one increment in the peripheral direction such that the toothed belts engage into the tooth gaps (ZL) in an offset manner relative to each other, resulting in a significant reduction of the running noise and engaging noise by using simple means as the offset allows the polygon effect which substantially contributes to generating the noise is largely suppressed. At least one of the toothed belts permanently runs on the outer cylinder of the synchronous belt wheel (ZS) in any wheel position such that the entire synchronous belt drive has running characteristics that are similar in quality as those of a flat belt drive while the slip-free transmission that is typical for synchronous belt drives is fully maintained. The inventive design thus combines the advantages of a flat belt drive with those of a synchronous belt drive and can be used for many different purposes, e.g. in gear trains for electric steering systems.
