    • An electric wire designed so that such electric wires can be reliably distinguished from each other even if only a part of the outer surface is exposed is provided. An electric wire (1) comprises a core wire (5) and a covering (6). The outer surface (6a) of the covering (6) has a single color (P). The outer surface (6a) is formed with first marks (7) and second marks (8). The terminal end (1a) as a part of the electric wire (1) is provided with the first mark (7) disposed on one surface (1b) and the second mark (8) disposed on the other surface (1c) in the back of the one surface (1b). The one surface (1b) is provided with alternating first and second marks (7, 8) along the longitudinal direction of the electric wire (1). The first marks (7) are colored with a first color (R). The second marks (8) are colored with a second color (G) different from the first color (R). Electric wires (1) are made distinguishable from each other by suitably changing the first and second colors (R, G).

    • An electric wire which is easily identified and suppresses a decrease in the quality of a wire harness to be assembled, and a wire coloring apparatus. An electric wire (1) comprises a core (2) and a coated section (3) that coats the core (2). The outer surface (3a) of the coated section (3) has a first identifying section (4) and a mark (5). The first identifying section (4) lies over the whole periphery of the outer surface (3a) of the coated section (3) located at the central section (1a) of the wire (1) in the longitudinal direction. The first identifying section (4) is formed of the outer surface (3a) colored in a first color (G) different from the color (P) of a colorless synthetic resin which constitutes the coated section (3). The mark (5) lies in a colorless region (6) provided at each end (1b) of the wire (1). The colorless region (6) is formed by removing the colorless coated section (3). The mark (5) lies by keeping the colorless region (6) colored partially in a second color (H).
