    • A sealed electrical connector assembly (10) having a connector position assurance device (CPA) (82) including at least one CPA support rail and a CPA latch finger. A plug housing (12) is provided with a body section having a mating interface (30) on one end thereof that retains a plurality of plug contacts. The plug housing (12) includes a shroud extending about at least a portion of the body section and is spaced apart from the body section by a predefined gap. A header (18) is provided having a base retaining a plurality of header contacts adapted to electrically engage the plug contacts. The header (18) includes walls defining a plug receptacle adapted for receiving the mating interface (30). The walls are received in the gap between the shroud and the body section of the plug housing (12). A seal (34) is mounted to one of the plug housing (12) and header (18) to form a hermetic seal between the plug housing (12) and header (18) when fully mated with one another. A CPA retention assembly is mounted to at least one of the plug housing (12) and header (18). The CPA (82) is slidably mounted to the CPA retention assembly and moveable between a retracted position and a locked position. The CPA permits engagement and disengagement of the header (18) and plug housing (12) when in the retracted position and prevents engagement and disengagement of the assembly when in the locked position.

    • An electrical connector assembly (10) comprises a connector (14) with an outer enclosure (16) and a mating opening, and a header (12) having a mating portion to engage the mating opening of the connector. A latch assist member (20) is mounted to the connector and is movable between open and closed positions relative to its outer enclosure. The latch assist member includes passageways (214,220) receiving slide assist members (80) which are mounted on the header. These passageways and slide assist members cooperate to forcibly draw the header and connector into a fully mated position when the latch assist member moves to the closed position relative to the outer enclosure. A connector position assurance device (CPA) (22) is slidably mounted to the connector and is movable between locked and unlocked positions. The CPA secures the latch assist member (20) in the closed position when the CPA is moved to its locked position.
