摘要： A polyester type aqueous coating composition that can be favorably used for metal cans such as beverage cans and can lids . The aqueous coating composition comprises a polyester resin having an acid value of not less than 5 mgKOH/g but less than 30 mgKOH/g and a curing agent having a functional group capable of reacting with a carboxyl group possessed by the polyester resin. The aqueous coating composition is capable of forming a coating that features excellent workability, curability and corrosion resistance.

摘要： In the present invention, a method for producing a drawn/ironed can includes drawing and ironing a coated metal sheet to obtain a drawn/ironed can, the coated metal sheet having an inner surface coating film at least on a surface to be a can inner surface, and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of a polyester resin contained in the inner surface coating film is 55°C or higher, an ironing rate in the drawing and ironing is 40% or greater, and a processing speed during ironing in the drawing and ironing is 2000 mm/sec or higher. Thus, even in a case where a coated metal sheet having a coating film that has excellent flavor sorption resistance and contains a polyester resin having a high glass transition temperature as a main component is used, it is possible to suppress occurrence of a coating film defect during molding and occurrence of coating film peeling due to heat treatment.

This makes it possible to provide a seamless can, in particular, a drawn and wall-ironed can, that has excellent retort whitening resistance and temporal embrittlement resistance, does not experience coating film peeling during heat treatment after molding, and has an excellent coating film covering property. Gel fraction (A) = (W2a/W1a) × 100 (%), where W1a represents a mass of the inner surface coating film isolated from a coated metal substrate cut out from the seamless can, and W2a represents a mass of the isolated inner surface coating film after being immersed in MEK at ordinary temperature for 60 minutes and then taken out and dried.

The aqueous coating composition is excellent in flavor sorption resistance and retort whitening resistance and applicable to form a coating excellent in coating properties such as curability and workability.

The organic resin-covered surface-treated metal sheet has the surface-treatment coating and an organic resin film on the surface-treatment coating on at least one surface of the metal sheet. The surface-treatment coating contains a poly-carboxylic acid type polymer and a polyvalent metal compound. If the surface-treatment coating is measured for its infrared-ray absorption spectra, a peak height ratio ( β / α ) of a maximum absorption peak height ( α ) in a wave number range of 1660 to 1760 cm -1 and a maximum absorption peak height ( β ) in a wave number range of 1490 to 1659 cm -1 is from 0.05 to 2.35.
