    • The invention relates to a method for assembling a camshaft (2) from a support shaft (5) and components (17) to be connected to the support shaft (5), said components (17) having through-openings (19) for receiving the support shaft (5). The invention also relates to a support shaft (5) which has first diametric enlargements (11) in first portions (9) in which the components (17) are to be fastened, and second diametric enlargements (15) in second portions (13) in which the components (17) are to be preliminarily positioned, the diameter (D2) in the second portions (13) being smaller than the diameter (D1) in the first portions (9). In a further step the support shaft (5) is cooled and/or the components (17) are heated such that the first and second diametric expansions (11, 13) of the support shaft (5) can be pushed through the through-openings (19) of the components (17). The support shaft (5) is then pushed through the through-openings (19) so that every component (17) is associated with a second portion. The support shaft (5) is then heated and/or the components (17) are cooled such that the diameter (DB) of the through-openings (19) of the components (17) is smaller than the diameter (D2) of the associated second diametric expansions (15). A predetermined overlap of the components (17) with the second portions (13) associated with the components (17) is then produced such that the components (17) are releasably held in the associated second portions (13). The components (17) are then pressed onto the first diametric expansions (11) associated therewith or the first diametric expansions (11) are press-fitted into the associated through-openings (19) of the components (17), the respective required angular position of every component (17) relative to the support shaft (5) being adjusted prior to, during or after pressing or press-fitting.
