    • The invention relates to a mobile strapping apparatus (1) comprising a base frame (11), a tensioning apparatus (12) having a tensioning wheel (13) provided with a contoured lateral surface (15), a drive unit (26) which is provided at least for driving the tensioning wheel (13), a counter-support element (20) which interacts with the tensioning wheel (13) and which is arranged opposite a contact point (27) located between the tensioning wheel (13) and the strapping band (3), a friction welding apparatus (45), a cutting-off apparatus (57), a band return block (28) having a blocking element (30) by way of which a return movement of the band end (6) counter to the tensioning direction (29) thereof is preventable, and a power supply source for providing drive power. The counter-support element (20) is provided with a contoured surface (21) and is positioned such that a frictional and/or force-fitting connection to a portion located closest to the band start (5) of the strapping band (3) is producible by way of the counter-support element (20), and a relative movement between the band start (5) of the strapping band (3) and the counter-support element (20) is preventable.
