    • [OBJECT] To provide a device for removing radioactive cesium from waste material containing radioactive cesium, doing so at low energy and in a dependable manner.
      [MEANS OF REALIZING THE OBJECT] The removal device 1 for radioactive cesium is provided with: a rotary kiln 41 which is provided with a burner 41b supplying from the kiln outlet an organic matter 03 contaminated with radioactive cesium, and an inorganic matter charging port 41a supplying from the kiln inlet inorganic matter S4 contaminated with radioactive cesium, and which is employed to burn the organic matter 03 together with the inorganic matter S4; and a recovery device cooling tower 51, a cyclone 52, a bag filter 53 for recovering cesium that has volatilized in the rotary kiln. A drying/crushing device (dryer 21, crusher 22) for drying and crushing the organic matter O1 prior to charging the radioactive cesium-contaminated organic matter to the rotary kiln can be provided. Additionally, a reforming/drying/crushing device (reformer 31, dryer 32, crusher 23) for reforming, drying, and crushing the inorganic matter S1 can be provided. During burning of the organic matter 03 together with the inorganic matter S4, a calcium source can be added as a reaction accelerant A to the rotary kiln.

    • [Subject] To efficiently reduce lead content of cement without exerting influence upon quality of the cement.
      [Means for Solution] The method comprises the steps of: controlling O 2 concentration of combustion gas in an inlet end of a cement kiln to 5 % or lower and/or CO concentration thereof 1000 ppm or more; extracting a part of combustion gas from the cement kiln and collecting dust contained in the combustion gas; and collecting lead from the dust collected. With this, the area where raw material temperature in the cement kiln is between 800°C and 1100°C can be turned into reducing atmosphere to sharply increase volatilization rate of lead, and collection of lead from the dust allows lead content of cement to efficiently be reduced without exerting influence upon quality of the cement. Together with the control described above, where the inner diameter of the cement kiln is D and the distance from the inlet end of the cement kiln longitudinally into the kiln is L, supplying fuel and/or raw material including inflammable material to the area where L/D of the cement kiln is 0 or more and 12 or lower causes securely maintaining the reducing atmosphere of the area.

    • Provided is a method of easily and efficiently removing radioactive cesium from a waste contaminated with radioactive cesium. The method of removing radioactive cesium includes a heating step of heating a waste contaminated with radioactive cesium and a CaO source and/or a MgO source at a temperature of from 1,200 to 1,350°C to volatilize the radioactive cesium in the waste. In the heating step, the kinds and the blending ratios of the waste, the CaO source, and the MgO source are set so that the masses of CaO, MgO, and SiO 2 satisfy the equation: (CaO+1.39×MgO)/SiO 2 )=1.0 to 2.5 (in the equation, CaO, MgO, and SiO 2 represent the mass of calcium in terms of an oxide, the mass of magnesium in terms of an oxide, and the mass of silicon in terms of an oxide, respectively).
