    • An apparatus for inserting terminals carried on a carrier strip into cavities in a housing having a slide assembly with a cam track (114) movable between a first and a second position, and a pivoting lever (104) with a cam follower (112). The cam follower (112) is positioned in and cooperates with the cam track (114). The lever (104) is movable between an open and closed position and has first and second shearing blades (49,50,51). An eccentric pin (106) extends through the lever (104) and is attached to a rotary actuator (108). The eccentric pin (106) is positioned to act as the pivot point for the lever (104). The rotary actuator (108) is movable between an engaged and disengaged position. As the lever (104) is moved to the closed position, the first shearing blades (49,51) engage and shear a first portion of the carrier strip. As the rotary actuator (108) moves to an engaged position, the second shearing blade (50) engages and shears a second portion of the carrier strip.
