    • In a cleavage method for a plate-like material, the plate-like material has two or more linear recesses formed thereon and is cleaved into three or more parts. The cleavage method has: a first positioning step of, by using a positioning means, positioning and holding therebetween a plate-like material in the direction orthogonal to the linear recesses and positioning a first linear recess; a first clamping step of, by using a fixing clamp, holding one side of the first linear recess therebetween and of, by using a rotational clamp, holding the other side of the first linear recess therebetween; a first cleaving step of evacuating the positioning means and rotationally separating the rotational clamp while maintaining a predetermined clamping force; a second positioning step of releasing the clamps by the fixing clamp and the rotational clamp and positioning a second linear recess by using the positioning means; a second clamping step of, by using the fixing clamp, holding one side of the second linear recess therebetween and of, by using the rotational clamp, holding the other side of the second linear recess therebetween; and a second cleaving step of evacuating the positioning means and rotationally separating the rotational clamp while maintaining the predetermined clamping force.

    • In a method for manufacturing a rotor, a plurality of cut magnet pieces (31, 32) are assembled in a rotor core (10) with both cut surfaces (31a, 32a) of the cut magnet pieces (31),(32) in a engaged state. The production method for the rotor includes a cutting step and a surface treating step. In the cutting step, a magnetic substrate (30A) having a recess (30a) formed in a surface thereof is cut using the recess (30a) as a starting point, thereby forming a first magnet piece (31) and a second magnet piece (32). In the surface treating step, cut surfaces (31a) are surface treated, so as to reduce protrusions (TO) on the cut surfaces (3 1 a) of the first magnet piece (31). Accordingly, the engagement between the cut surfaces (31a, 32a) is poor, the contact area is reduced, and the contact resistance is increased. As a result thereof, the eddy currents in the cut magnets (30) flow less easily, and a loss resulting from the eddy currents may be decreased.
