摘要： A thermal head comprises an elongated substrate, a thermal insulation layer made of a thermal insulation material and provided at least with a protrusion with a constant width extending in the longitudinal direction on one major surface of the substrate, a heating resistor with a specified thickness made of a resistive material deposited at least on the protrusion of the thermal insulation layer, a common electrode disposed in contact with the heating resistor, a plurality of discrete electrodes each having at least one end part in contact with the heating resistor and the other end connected with a drive circuit, opposed to the common electrode, and spaced apart from the front end thereof, and a protective film layer formed on the heating resistor, wherein the heating resistor in the gap between the discrete electrodes and the common electrode functions as a recording section. The protrusion is formed linearly in the longitudinal direction of the substrate and has a substantially flat top face. The recording section is formed on the flat top surface.
