    • The retractable step comprises: a support frame solidly constrained to the vehicle, at least a tread (11) constrained to the frame by means of a linkage system, such as to be mobile in oscillating between a completely extracted position and a completely retracted position thereof with respect to a volume of the vehicle. The step comprises a hook lever (20), constrained to an oscillating part (12) of the linkage system, and is destined to hook to an engaging element (30) which is fixed with respect to the frame, such as to block the tread (11) in a completely extracted position, the hooking action being freed following the action of the pulling means (40) in a direction of pulling the tread (11) towards the completely retracted position. In the invention, the completely extracted position of the tread (11) is made stable by means of the hooking operated by the lever (20) with the engaging element (30), preventing the tread (11) from displacing towards the retracted position if jogged by objects or persons.
