    • [Problem to be solved] To provide a flatbed knitting machine equipped with sinker devices capable of ensuring an appropriate arrangement space without increasing a height even when a movable sinker biased by a spring is arranged with a fixed sinker in a space between knitting needles.
      [Solution] A movable sinker 10 and a fixed sinker 12 are arranged between knitting needles. A spring 13 biases the movable sinker 10 and a side surface thereof is supported by a leading end part 11d of a sinker jack 11. The movable sinker 10 is driven by the sinker jack 11 from a lateral side and a lower portion of a thin thickness part 7a provided on needle plate 7 is positioned at a vicinity of a bottom part of a needle groove for accommodating the knitting needle, thereby preventing the need of increasing the height of the sinker device. The sinker jack 11 is also used for pressing the movable sinker 10 from the side surface at the side of the needle groove so as to ensure an appropriate arrangement space.

    • A sinker mechanism is intended for a flat knitting machine (1) having at least one front needle bed (2) and one rear needle bed (2), each of the needle bed (2) having needle plates (3) which are arranged at equal intervals on the needle bed (2) and knitting needles (4) which are disposed between any two adjacent needle plates (3) for advancing and retracting movement. The needle plates (3) on the front needle bed and the needle plates (3) on the rear needle bed (2) close each other with distal ends. The sinker mechanism comprises a row of sinker assemblies, each sinker assembly comprising a needle plate (3), a swingable sinker (24) next to a front region of the needle plate, and a yarn guide sheet (32) fixedly mounted to a needle bed. The swingable sinker (24) has at front end a yarn holding portion (27). The yarn guide sheet (32) has at front end a yarn guide edge (37). When the swingable sinker (24) turns forward with its yarn holding portion (27) moving down, the yarn guide edge (37) of the yarn guide sheet comes above the yarn holding portion of the swingable sinker and projects outwardly of the front end of the sinker towards the intermediate between the front ends of the opposed needle beds (2).

    • [Object] To provide a knitting yarn gripping device of a flatbed knitting machine which is capable of preventing a yarn break or a yarn cast-off, even when the outer gripping device is lifted, with the inner gripping device in the standby condition while gripping the knitting yarn, and a control method of the same.
      [Technical Solution] A controller 31 is set so that a standby position of at least the inner gripping mechanism 11a, at which a gripping portion 12a is closed to grip an end of a knitting yarn 6a and is put in standby, is upper in level than a lower limit of a stroke for the gripping portion 11a to move up and down. When the gripping mechanism 11a is first moved down to a position lower in level than the standby position, then is turned around, and then is moved up, the gripping portion 12a is opened. On the other hand, when the gripping mechanism 11a is moved up directly from the standby position, the gripping portion12a is kept in the closed state. Thus, when the outer gripping mechanism 11b is moved up so that the knitting yarn 6b can be caught by the gripping portion 11b, the inner gripping mechanism 11a can also be moved up together, while keeping the condition of the gripping portion 12a that grips the knitting yarn 6a without pulling it, to prevent a yarn break or yarn cast-off.
