摘要： An object of the present invention is to provide an ink composition which can provide an image having excellent glossy texture to various recording media, particularly to a glossy recording medium, is decreased in bronzing phenomenon, and is also good in fixing property and scratch resistance such as gloss change. The invention relates to an ink composition containing at least a coloring agent coated with a water-insoluble polymer as a coloring material and a resin emulsion as an additive, wherein the weight average molecular weight of the water-insoluble polymer is from 50,000 to 150,000, and wherein the resin emulsion comprises a resin comprising a monomer component of the same kind as the monomer component constituting the water-insoluble polymer and having a weight average molecular weight of 1.5 to 4 times that of the water-insoluble polymer; and an ink composition containing at least a coloring agent coated with a water-insoluble polymer and resin particles, wherein the water-insoluble polymer is a polymer obtained by a solution polymerization process using at least a polymerizable unsaturated monomer and a polymerization initiator, wherein the coloring agent coated with the water-insoluble polymer is a coloring material obtained by a phase inversion emulsification process in which after the water-insoluble polymer is dissolved in an organic solvent, at least the coloring agent and water are added thereto, followed by mixing, and the organic solvent is removed to perform dispersion in an aqueous system, and wherein the resin particles are a polymer obtained by an emulsion polymerization process using at least a crosslinking agent.

摘要： This invention provides an ink composition that can yield images having an excellent glossy impression on glossy recording media. The ink composition comprises at least a colorant coated with a water insoluble polymer and a resin emulsion and is characterized in that the water insoluble polymer has a weight average molecular weight of 50000 to 150000, the resin emulsion comprises a resin of a monomer component, which is the same type as the monomer component constituting the water insoluble polymer, and the resin has a weight average molecular weight of 1.5 to 4 times larger than the weight average molecular weight of the water insoluble polymer. Alternatively, the ink composition comprises at least a colorant coated with a water insoluble polymer and resin particles and is characterized in that the colorant coated with the water insoluble polymer is a coloring material prepared by a phase inversion emulsification method and the resin particles are formed of a polymer prepared by an emulsion polymerization method.

摘要： An ink jet recording medium comprising a support and, on the support, at least one layer comprising cationic organic particles which have a glass transition temperature of from 70 to 130°C and comprise (A) 0.1 to 10 % by weight of a monomer having a hindered amine type functional group, (B) 0.1 to 10 % by weight of a monomer having a benzotriazole type functional group and (C) 80 to 99.8 % by weight of a monomer selected from styrene and acrylic monomers.
A process for producing an ink jet recording medium which process comprises applying a suspension of copolymeric particles which have a glass transition temperature of from 70 to 130°C and comprise (A) 0.1 to 10 % by weight of a monomer having a hindered amine type functional group, (B) 0.1 to 10 % by weight of a monomer having a benzotriazole type functional group and (C) 80 to 99.8 % by weight of a monomer selected from styrene and acrylic monomers, on a support, and allowing the coating surface in a wet state or in a dried state to pressure contact with a mirror roll to smooth the surface.
The present invention can provide the ink jet recording sheet having excellent ink absorption characteristics, color development concentration, water resistance, light resistance, yellowing resistance and surface strength, and the process for producing the recording sheet.
