摘要： The present invention provides thermosetting aqueous binder compositions comprising a diprimary amine or poly(primary amine) and one or more water soluble oxidized dextrin made by oxidizing a dextrin having a DE value of from 2 to 25 and having from 2 to 10 millieq CHO/g of dry oxidized dextrin or a larger oxidized dextrin or an oxidized dextrin made by oxidizing a dextrin having a DE value of below 2 and having from 0.25 to 5 millieq CHO/g of dry oxidized dextrin. The aqueous biobased binders provide hot wet tensile strength when heat cured.

摘要： The present invention provides substantially formaldehyde free aqueous thermosetting binder resins from resorcinol and cycloaliphatic dialdehydes, glutaraldehyde or their mixtures and urea which may be excluded or included up to amounts which deter hot wet tensile strength in the cured binder. The compositions provide binders that on a performance cost basis are equivalent to phenol formaldehyde resins but without the formaldehyde.

The binders are at least substantially formaldehyde free, need no polycarboxylic or polycarboxylate component, and yet provide excellent hot wet tensile strength when cured for as little time as a minute or less in use.

摘要： The present invention provides wood adhesive binder compositions comprising a naturally occurring protein component, e.g. soy flour, and an oxazoline-functional group containing polymer or resin component, the two components in a solids weight ratio of from 60:40 to 98:2. As formulated, the compositions may comprise from 40 to 98 wt.% of the naturally occurring protein component, preferably, 50 wt.% or more. Preferably, the wood adhesive binder further comprises lignins or lignosulfonate. Where the wood adhesive binder compositions comprise lignins or lignosulfonates, they remain more fluid and workable at a higher pH such as, for example, 4.5 or more. Any of the compositions may be formulated with one or more in situ acid generator compound to insure more rapid cure on heating or pressing. The binder enables the provision of mechanically sound, low cost and biodegradable composites, such as, medium density fiberboard (MDF).
