    • The invention provides cartridge ammunition (1), in particular of medium caliber, having a projectile (2) and a propellant charge casing (3) which is connected to the projectile (2), wherein a propellant charge (7) is provided in a propellant chamber (6) of the propellant charge casing (3) and has a functional connection to an igniting cap (11) of an ignition device, which is placed in a plug (14) that can be introduced into a hole (12) in the bottom (13) of the propellant charge casing (3). An annular gap (17, 17') is incorporated between the plug (14) and the propellant charge casing (3), which annular gap is led to the outside through the base (13) of the casing. The annular gap (17, 17') is sealed off with respect to the propellant charge (7) by a ring (16) and consists of a fusible, solid and pressure-tight material, the melting point of which lies at least below the melting point of the ignition temperature of the ignition device and the propellant charge (7). If the ammunition (1) is subjected to an excessively high temperature during the transport, storage, etc. thereof, the fusible material of the securing ring (16) begins to liquefy and passes through the annular gap (17, 17') to the outside. As a result of said measure, the plug (14) is released and loses the mechanical hold to the propellant charge casing (3). As a result, the plug (14) exposes the hole (12), so that a larger opening is produced in the base (13) of the casing.

    • The igniter comprises a disk-shaped element (15) for interruption or release of an ignition chain (13a, 13b) of said igniter, consisting of a central area (16) surrounded by an edge area (17). Only the central area interrupts the ignition chain and is supported by a holder (19). A collector area is provided around the holder below the edge area (17) when seen in the direction of flight of said projectile. The central area (16) and the edge area (17) are connected to each other by a predetermined breaking point (18). The edge area (17) is sheared off from the central area (16) during initial acceleration of the projectile and placed in a reception area (21) whereupon the central area (16) is also removed from the ignition chain (13a, 13b) by the angular momentum of the projectile.

    • Disclosed is a piece of cartridged ammunition, particularly blank ammunition, comprising a cartridge shell (3) and a projectile (2) that is inserted therein. A propellant chamber that accommodates a propellant charge (5) is provided in the cartridge shell. The propellant charge (5) is ignited by a pyrotechnic ignition device (13) and develops propellants which act upon the bottom (8) of the projectile and propel the same out of the cartridge shell. In order to prevent the pyrotechnic ignition device and thus also the propellant charge (5) from igniting and the cartridge shell and the projectile from being torn apart and being projected in case of high ambient temperatures, particularly during a fire, relief ducts (14) which are filled with a meltable material, especially a meltable metal (15), are provided between the propellant chamber and the exterior of the cartridge shell (3). The meltable material has a lower melting point than the ignition temperature of the ignition device (13) and the propellant charge (5). If the ambient temperature of the cartridge shell rises above the melting temperature of the meltable material, said meltable material melts and unblocks the relief ducts (14) such that the propellant charge burns without pressure building up when the propellant charge is ignited later on while the cartridge shell and the projectile remain interconnected.
