Said brush holder comprises a tube (15), a brush (17) which consists of two brush elements (21, 22) and is received in the tube (15) in an axially displaceable manner, and at least one brush pressure spring (16) which exerts pressure on the brush (17). In order to ensure a precise commutation, avoiding any lateral play between the brush (17) and the tube (15), the two brush elements are essentially cuboid and are arranged in the tube (15) in a parallel manner, projecting past the tube edge (151) on the commutator side. Expanding means engage between the interspaced brush elements (21, 22) in such a way that the opposing lateral surfaces (212, 222) of the two brush elements (21, 22) positively rest on opposite walls (152, 153) of the tube in the circumferential direction of the commutator (10).

摘要： The invention relates to a commutation device for an electrical machine, especially for a D.C. motor for use in motor vehicles. Said device comprises a commutator with a plurality of commutator bars insulated from one another and disposed one by one on the periphery, and at least two brushes (14) disposed in a substantially diametrical manner on the commutator. Every brush consists of two self-contained, electrically interconnected brush bases (15, 16) that configure electrical contact surfaces (24, 25) that rest on the commutator bars in a non-positive fit with their commutator-side front ends. In order to reduce phase shift of commutation during change-over of the machine to a minimum, the two brush bases (15, 16) of each brush (26, 27) are disposed in such a manner that the centers of area (26, 27) of their contact surfaces (24, 25) are off-set from each other in the peripheral direction of the commutator.
