    • A recording apparatus (200) is provided with: a recording device (352) for recording record information onto a recording medium (100) provided with: (i) a first recording layer (L0) which is irradiated with the laser light (LB) to thereby record therein the record information; a forming device (354) for forming a buffer area in each of the first recording layer and the second recording layer, and a controlling device (354) for controlling the forming device to form the buffer area in which a size of the buffer area in the first recording layer is set to be equal to or greater than a predetermined value, and in which an edge on an outer circumferential side of the buffer area in the second recording layer is disposed at a position obtained by shifting by a tolerance length, which indicates a sum of a position shift from a predetermined position or an acceptable range of the position shift of an address to be defined at the predetermined position in the first recording layer and the position shift or the acceptable range of the position shift in the second recording layer, from an area portion of the second recording layer corresponding to an edge on an outer circumferential side of the buffer area in the first recording layer.
