摘要： An absorbent underpad (100) for use on an article of bedding includes a liquid impervious backing sheet (102), a liquid permeable upper facing sheet (104) adhered to the backing sheet (102) about the edges (120,122) thereof, and an interior absorbent pad combination comprising upper and lower tissue layers (108,110) generally coextensive with the boundaries of the underpad, a pair of spatially separated barrier strips (112) formed of super-absorbent material between the tissue layers, and a non-woven transfer layer (106) along the central region of the upper tissue layer adjacent the upper facing sheet. The plies of the tissue layer are formed with a crepe-like irregular surface oriented to develop a wicking action directed along the layers in a transverse direction, toward the absorbent barrier strips (112).

摘要： Conventionally absorbent sheets for meat packaging are made of absorbent cellulose laminations 18 with a cover sheet 14 of polyethylene. The laminations are compression bonded by means of a serrated wheel which forms a series of indentations along one or more lines. When moisture is absorbed the sheet 14 tends to delaminate. To prevent this a thermo-setting material such as a wax is applied along the line of indentations. A wax rivet 24 is thus formed which provides additional mechanical bonding and prevents access of moisture to the immediate region of the compression bond 22 by reason of the absorbed wax 24A.

摘要： An absorbent pad (100) for use with meat and poultry products in retail sale packages has a laminated tissue absorbent mat (104) sandwiched and sealed between upper and lower plastic sheets (102, 106). The pad (100) is perforated by penetration of perforating pins entirely through the pad to develop a series of holes (120) for the passage of liquid from the meat package into the absorbent mat (104) inside the pad. A myriad of outwardly projecting tufts of tissue material (130) are developed along the underside of the pad (100) by the perforating pins (204). These tufts (130) develop a wicking effect which enhances the capillary action of the tissue layers (108) inside the pad. Methods of fabrication of the individual pads and continuous linear absorbent sheet material are also disclosed.
