摘要： An internal combustion engine includes an engine block defining a cylinder 46 having a longitudinal axis 66, and a piston 90 reciprocally movable in the cylinder 46 along the axis 66, the piston 90 having an upper surface 98. The cylinder head 110 includes a lower surface portion 114 closing the upper end of the cylinder 46 and extending generally perpendicularly to the axis 66 and having therein an upwardly extending recess 122. The lower end of the recess 122 has an area in a plane perpendicular to the axis 66 which is equal to approximately one-fifth of the cross-sectional area of the cylinder 46, and the height of the recess 122 is equal to at least one-third of the cylinder diameter. A fuel injector 126 is supported relative to the cylinder head 110 for injecting fuel into the recess 122, and a spark plug 142 is supported relative to the cylinder head 110 and extends into the recess 122 for creating a spark.

摘要： A lubricant supply system 9 for a two-stroke internal combustion engine includes first and second adjacently located and substantially sealed crankcase chambers 21 which alternately experience high and low pressure conditions which are out of phase with respect to the occurrence thereof. First and second oil supply passages 60 communicate with the first and second crankcase chambers 21, and an oil supply circuit includes an oil supply chamber 41 adapted to contain oil and having therein a formation including therein a recess 35 isolated from the oil supply chamber 41 and communicating with the first and second oil supply passages 60. An oil metering rod 55 including therein an indentation 59 is supported in the oil supply chamber 41 for movement in the formation between a first position wherein the indentation 59 is located in the oil supply chamber 41, thereby affording filling of the indentation 59 with oil, and a second position wherein the indentation 59 is located in the formation in communication with the recess 35, thereby affording supplying of the oil in the indentation 59 to the sealed crankcase chambers 21. A mechanism 81, 85 is provided for effecting movement of the oil metering rod 55 between the first and second positions.
