    • An endoscope system includes: an image storage portion that stores previously acquired three-dimensional image information with respect to a subject; a luminal organ extracting portion that extracts a predetermined luminal organ from the three-dimensional image information; an objective optical system provided in a distal end of an insertion portion of an endoscope; a line-of-sight direction detecting portion that detects a line-of-sight direction of the objective optical system; a direction comparing portion that compares a core line direction of the predetermined luminal organ that is extracted by the luminal organ extracting portion and the line-of-sight direction; and a position and posture information recording portion that records information regarding a position and a posture of the distal end of the insertion portion of the endoscope in a case where an angle that the core line direction and the line-of-sight direction form is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold value.

    • In a camera head for an endoscope, a camera system for an endoscope, and an endoscope system of the invention, a camera head section (1) has: an adaptor connection section (11) to be connected to an eyepiece section of an endoscope that enables observation of inside of a body cavity of a subject; a CCD (16) which picks up an observation image from the eyepiece section connected by the adaptor connection section (11); an image signal processing device (14) which processes an image signal of the observation image picked up by the CCD (16); a cable (3) including a connector (31) as an output device which outputs the image signal from the image signal processing device (14); and a recording device (17) which records the image signal.

    • An endoscope system includes: an image storage section that stores three-dimensional image information in a subject acquired in advance; a virtual endoscopic image generating section that generates a virtual endoscopic image endoscopically depicted from a predetermined view point position on the three-dimensional image information; an image pickup section that is provided in an endoscope and picks up an image in the specified luminal organ; a position detection section that detects a position of a distal end of an endoscope insertion portion in the specified luminal organ; and a candidate information presentation section that presents candidate position information to be a candidate when performing image comparison between the virtual endoscopic image and the endoscopic image generated by image pickup by the image pickup section, and the corresponding virtual endoscopic image, as candidate information, on a two-dimensional tomographic image which is obtained by cutting the three-dimensional image information in a predetermined direction based on the position information of the distal end of the endoscope insertion portion by the position detection section.
