    • A blind rivet fastens together a first member (41) having a first fastening hole (42), and a second member (44) having a second fastening hole (45) arranged on the working side of the first member to be fastened. The inner diameter of the second fastening hole (45) is greater than the inner diameter of the first fastening hole (42) in order to compensate for any position error. The blind rivet comprises a rivet body (10) having a sleeve (11), a rivet head (12), and a through hole (13); a mandrel (20) having an elongated stem (21) and a head (23); and a washer (30). The washer (30) is arranged around the outer circumferential surface of the sleeve (11) and adjacent to the rivet head (12). The members (41, 44) are fastened between the enlarged end of the sleeve (11) and the washer (30).

      [Solution] A head 7 is formed so that the maximum diameter portion 18 as viewed from the front is arranged in a different position axially with respect to the maximum diameter portion 19 as viewed from the side. The horizontal cross-section of the head 7 is such that a first ellipse is formed in the maximum diameter portion 18, and a second ellipse is formed in the maximum diameter portion 19 with the long axis perpendicular to the long axis of the first ellipse. The horizontal cross-sectional shape of the head 7 is gradually changed in the axial direction so as to continue from the first ellipse to the second ellipse. Each one of the horizontal cross-sections has the same circumferential length at different axial positions on the head.
