    • The invention relates to a heat-sensitive recording material, characterised in that a carrier material carries at least one coating layer in which at least two colour-generating reactants A and B are contained. As the colour-generating reactant A, the layer contains an iron compound which is insoluble in water or sparingly soluble in water, and as the colour-generating reactant B, the layer contains a phenol compound which has at least 2 adjacent OH-groups separated from one another and is insoluble in water or sparingly soluble in water. The layer also contains a biodegradable polymer as a binder or stabiliser, which effects a physical separation of the two reactants, wherein at least one of the reactants A or B melts at less than 100°C and said melt reacts with the other colour-generating reactant developing a colour in a contact time of less than 1 second, and at least one of the two colour-generating reactants is present in the form of particles having a size of less than 20 μm.
