    • A battery has elements for electromotive-force accommodated in a metal outer can (1), the metal outer can (1) being a metal can (4) with a bottom having a cylindrical shape and a bottom thickness (TA)/side thickness (TB) value of 2.5 ~ 5.0. The metal outer can (1) consists chiefly of iron and a nickel layer (8) is provided on at least the inner face of the battery. A multiplicity of shallow longitudinal grooves are formed in the nickel layer (8) provided on the battery inside face.
