The individual dip wells (22) have a capacity to hold quantities of skin testing substances or medicaments equaling many times the volume of a single dose or increment that is picked up by one of the multi-pointed ends or heads (12) on an applicator (5). Both the applicator (5) and dip well tray (20) have guidance formations thereon whereby the user can readily orient the multi-point pickup ends or heads (12) on the applicator (5) with the dip wells (22) so that the heads can be readily and accurately lowered into the matching dip wells (22) without damaging the points (12) of the applicator (5).

摘要： A dipwell tray (5) for a variety of liquids to be selectively applied by sharp pointed needles (11) to a person's skin. For example, the liquids may be antigens used in skin testing for allergies. The tray (5) has a number of so-called dipwells (8) with co-planar mouths or top openings. In use, the liquids are introduced into the dipwells (8) and the needles (11) are then inserted into the dipwells, making the set-up loaded and ready for the needles (11) to be removed one-by-one with liquid adhering to their sharp points. In order to facilitate the removal of the needles, the top openings of the dipwells are provided with oriented needle-receiving pockets (10) whereby the needles in the dipwells will be inclined in a desired oriented direction.

摘要： This invention is a plastic skin testing and vaccinating needle (5) characterized by an end bifurcated into two sharp points (6) spaced sufficiently close so that in use the points (6) will penetrate and form a small hole in the skin when the needle (5) is simultaneously rotated and pressed against the skin. The spacing also causes liquid to adhere to and between the points (6) when the end is dipped in skin testing or vaccinating liquid. The cross section of the needle shaft is sufficiently large that the needle (5) can be readily rotated between a user's thumb and index finger. Rotation is facilitated by altering or roughening the surface of the shaft so as to reduce slippage during rotation. Preferably, the needle (5) is formed in a mold produced by electro-discharge machining so as to have an etched or matte surface which enhances the adherence of liquid to the bifurcated end.
