    • A system (608) and method for incorporating occupancy-detecting technology into furniture is provided. More particularly, the invention relates to detecting occupancy in a recliner (296, 298) using a sinuous wire detection array (250) incorporated into a seat. Further embodiments of the invention are directed to a system (608) and method for incorporating capacitance detection (148, 168, 182) technology with one or more conductive features of a recliner (296, 298) mechanism. In some aspects, a sensor (1, 2) is provided based on coupling one or more conductive features to a control component (320, 452, 578, 622) of the capacitance (172, 192, 194, 198, 200) detector control component (320, 452, 578, 622). A controller (120) may determine the corresponding response based on occupancy detection and/or presence detection. A processor (394) may receive information regarding changes in capacitance (172, 192, 194, 198, 200) and determines when a change in voltage satisfies a threshold. Based on a determination of occupancy and/or presence, a variety of corresponding features of the adjustable recliner (296, 298) may be activated.

The ottoman linkage includes a front ottoman link coupled to a seat mounting plate, and an outside ottoman link pivotally coupled to the front ottoman link.     • A blocker linkage for use in selectively locking a glider-recliner is provided. The glider-recliner is operable to move between closed, TV and full-recline positions. The blocker linkage includes a glide bracket (14) having front and rear glide links (16, 18) pivotably coupled thereto. The rear glide link (18) has a blocker pin (22) coupled to it that extends outwardly. A carrier link (20) is pivotably coupled to the bottoms of the front and rear glide links (16, 18). A rear blocker cam (30) is pivotably coupled to the carrier link (20). Similarly, a front blocker cam (24) is also pivotably coupled to the carrier link (20). The rear blocker cam (30) and the front blocker cam (24) are operably coupled to cooperatively engage the blocker pin (22) on the rear glide link (18) when the glider-recliner is moved from the closed position to the TV and full-recline positions, preventing movement of the rear glide link (18) and thus the gliding movement supported by the carrier link (20).
