    • A piston (6) is hermetically inserted via a sealing member (7) in a cylinder hole (2) provided in a housing (1) so that the piston (6) is movable in an up-down direction. A communication passage (21) provided in an inner peripheral wall of the cylinder hole (2) is communicatively connected to a lock-side supply and discharge passage (13) through which pressurized oil is supplied to and discharged from a lock chamber (11) of the housing (1). An opening area (Si) of the communication passage (21) is designed to be smaller than an opening area (S 2 ) of the lock-side supply and discharge passage (13). When the piston (6) is caused to move for releasing from a raised position to a lower limit position, the sealing member (7) is lowered from the raised position beyond the communication passage (21), to open communication between a release chamber (12) in the housing (1) and the lock-side supply and discharge passage (13) via the communication passage (21).

    • A clamp rod (5) is vertically movably inserted into a housing (3), and a detection hole (58) is formed in a lower end wall (3b) of the housing (3), substantially concentrically with an axis of the clamp rod (5). An inlet hole (71, 72) for supplying compressed air is opened in a peripheral surface of the detection hole (58).     • A piston body (11) of an advancing-retracting first piston (10) and a force-multiplying second piston (15) are arranged in series in a vertical direction in a housing (1). Force acting on the second piston (15) due to pressurized oil in a lock chamber (16) is multiplied and converted into multiplied upward force via engaging balls (32) of a force multiplier (30). At an intermediate part of a first air detection passage (38) for use in detection formed in the housing (1), a first detection valve (40) is provided. When the engaging balls (32) move inward in a radial direction, the first detection valve (40) is closed.
