    • A shaft sealing assembly (11) seals a rotary shaft (15) of a refrigerant compressor with a first sealing member (21), which is a lip seal. The first sealing member (21) has a hollow portion. As the pressure in the interior space of the compressor housing (13) increases, an outer wall surrounding the hollow portion (51) is elastically deformed. Accordingly, a lip portion of the first sealing member (21) receives a tension that weakens a force pressing the lip portion against the rotary shaft (15). Therefore, the sealing assembly (11) improves the durability of the lip portion and maintains a satisfactory property of the lip portion to follow displacement of the rotary shaft (15) at the same time.

    • In a lip type seal, a case (31) is tightly fitted and fixed to an inner circumferential surface of a housing (1) through gasket means (32e). A resin lip member (33) constituted by an inner circumferential part (33c) extending in a bent state from a diameter direction part (33a) and its inner circumference to a sealed space (S2) side and forming a seal surface between an outer circumferential part of a rotary shaft (2) and the resin lip member (33); a rear surface support plate (36) disposed to abut on a rear surface of the diameter direction part (33a) of the resin lip member; and a stopper (37b) with a rear surface supported to a support surface (13) of the housing (1) through a second resin lip member (34) and a second rear surface support plate (38) and the top end coming close to or coming into contact with a rear surface of the inner circumferential part of the rear surface support plate (36), are provided on the inner circumference of the housing (1). Therefore, deformation of the rear surface support plate (36) due to pressure acting on the front surface of the resin lip member (33) and the contact of the rear surface support plate (36) with the rotary shaft (2) with the deformation are prevented (Fig. 1).

    • A compressor has a housing, which supports a rotary shaft (14), and a crank chamber (12a). A swash plate (18) is accommodated in the crank chamber (12a). The compressor has an oil chamber (29) located in the housing near a front end portion of the rotary shaft. The oil chamber (29) has an inlet (29a) and an outlet (29b). The outlet (29b) connects to the suction pressure zone. Either lubricant oil that is separated from refrigerant gas or refrigerant gas in the suction pressure zone flows into the oil chamber (29) from the inlet (29a) and flows out from the outlet (29b) to the suction pressure zone. A seal mechanism (30) seals the oil chamber (29). A seal (32) seals between the oil chamber (29) and the crank chamber (12a). This permits an inclination angle of the swash plate (18) to control accurately and smoothly while lubricating the seal mechanism (30) optimally.
