    • An efficient and high-performance commutator motor in which both torque enhancement and iron loss reduction are achieved is provided by ensuring a sufficient area occupied by field windings wound on main poles and further suppressing the influence of armature counteractive magnetic flux and reducing pulsating torque. The commutator motor includes a stator (1) and an armature (2). The stator (1) includes a stator iron core (3) having main poles (8) slots (41) and field windings (5,6) disposed in the slots (41). The armature (2) includes an armature iron core (7) having slots (42), teeth (43) and armature windings (10) wound in the slots (42). The stator and armature iron cores (3,7) are formed of laminated steel sheets. Both iron cores (3,7) are formed by etching process. Multiple through holes (B) are formed in the main poles (8) opposed to the air gap (15) positioned on the forward side in the direction of armature rotation (R) by etching process.
