    • A method for producing a biaxially oriented tube (10) from thermoplastic material. A tube (10) in preform condition (10) is extruded from thermoplastic material using an extruder (1) with an extruder (1) die head (3,5) having an inner die member (5) forming a lumen in the tube (10) in preform condition (10). A temperature conditioning is performed. Use is made of an expansion device which brings (90) about expansion of the tempered tube in (10) preform condition (10) in circumferential direction. The method comprises drawing the tempered tube (10) over the expansion device using a drawing device which is arranged downstream of the expansion device and acts on the tube (10), in such a manner that said tube (10) is transformed from a tube (10) in preform condition (10) into a biaxially oriented tube (10) with thermoplastic material which is oriented in axial direction and in circumferential direction of the tube (10), wherein said biaxially oriented tube (10) is cooled. The expansion device has a run-off part with a reduced diameter section and at least one outer diameter ring member(90,91) is arranged around said section. An increased diameter portion (105,200B,204) delimits the downstream end of the section. A pressurized gas is introduced in the fluid volume (101,210,220) between the reduced diameter section of the run-off part and the oriented tube (10,20).
