    • The invention pertains to the field of ceramics and relates to dense Al2O3 sinter ceramics with reinforced hard material of the Al2O3/TiCxNyOz type, such as those that can be used as wear-resisting parts. The aim of the invention is to provide Al2O3 sinter ceramics with reinforced hard material having a submicrometer structure in each individual phase. To this end, the structures of said Al2O3 sinter ceramics with reinforced hard material contain a corundum matrix with 0-15 vol. % ZrO2 and 0-15- vol. % of a hard material phase based on titanium TiCxNyOz with a) an oxygen content of z > 0.10 or b) an oxygen content of z ≥ 0.05 and an evident substoichiometry of (x+y+z) ≤ 0.95 of the hard material phase, wherein the mean grain size in each individual phase in the structures is smaller than 1 νm and the structures can exhibit a high Vickers hardness of HV10 ≥ 2,100. Disclosed is also a method whereby the powder starting materials are crushed and mixed together in a liquid medium.
