    • The invention relates to a method for producing one or more aldehydes from alkanes, comprising the steps: a) dehydrating at least one alkane in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst to produce at least one alkene, b) conversion of the alkene or the alkenes from step a) with hydrogen and carbon monoxide in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst which is different from the catalyst in step a). The method is characterised in that a catalytically effective composition is used as catalyst in step b), which composition has a solid substrate material which supports an ionic liquid which contains a catalyst including at least one transition metal and at least one ligand. The invention further relates to an apparatus suitable for dehydration of one or more alkanes to produce one or more alkenes, and hydroformylation of the alkene or alkenes obtained to produce aldehydes. Said apparatus is characterised in that the apparatus has at least two reaction zones, which are connected to one another in a fluid-conducting manner, wherein the first reaction zone is designed as a fixed bed and has a catalyst which catalyses the dehydration of alkanes to produce alkenes and the second reaction zone is designed as a fixed bed and has a catalyst which catalyses the hydroformylation of alkenes and is designed as a composition having a solid substrate material which supports an ionic liquid in which a catalyst, including at least one transition metal and at least one ligand, is contained.
