    • The invention relates to an electrode (2) for intraoperative nerve stimulation of the vagus nerve (26), said electrode being suitable for continuous neuromonitoring during an operation, in particular for neuromonitoring of the vagus nerve (26) during thyroid operations. The electrode comprises a strip-shaped electrode carrier (4) made of elastic material and at least one electrically conductive contact surface (12), which can be connected to a signal transmitter and/or signal receiver by means of a signal transmission medium (16) and which touches the vagus nerve (26) at a part of the circumference thereof during application. The electrode (2) is characterized by a first sub-section (6) having a plastically deformable material, so that during application the electrode carrier (4) can be shaped at the first sub-section (6) onto a vessel wall of a first blood vessel (22) extending parallel to the vagus nerve (26) and surrounds said blood vessel (22) in a hook shape in order to fasten the electrode (2), and by a second sub-section (10), which can be laid around the vagus nerve (26) in a loop shape with curvature opposite the first sub-section (6). The invention further relates to an electrode (2), which is characterized in that the electrode carrier (4) has a pre-shaped section having a bend at least at the head end (5) of the electrode carrier, so that during application the electrode carrier (4) surrounds a vessel wall of a blood vessel (22) extending parallel to the vagus nerve (26) in a hook shape in order to fasten the electrode.

    • The invention proposes a recording electrode for recording EMG potentials in intraoperative recurrence monitoring for identification and functional control of the recurrent laryngeal nerve during a surgical intervention, said recording electrode being characterized by at least two hook elements (17) which have or form contact areas (18) and are adjustable relative to each other by means of a spring element (15) and, under the effect of a pretensioning force of the spring element (15), can be clipped onto the prepared thyroid cartilage (10) of a patient. The special design of the electrode permits safe application to the thyroid cartilage of the patient and, therefore, excellent signal quality and signal reliability throughout the duration of the operation.

    • The invention proposes an electrode (10) for intraoperative nerve stimulation of the nervus vagus, said electrode being suitable for continuous neuromonitoring during an operation, in particular for the neuromonitoring of the nervus laryngeus recurrens during thyroid operations. The electrode is characterized by an electrode body (11) that is designed with an approximately T- or anchor-shaped cross-section, and that comprises an electrode shaft (12) and at least one support bracket (13) that protrudes out on both sides thereof, wherein the contact surface (16) is disposed on the side of the support bracket (13) opposite the electrode shaft (12). Through this especially advantageous electrode configuration, the electrode can be placed between the vena jugularis (22) and the arteria carotis (23) such that the electrode shaft lies in the intermediate space (24) between these two blood vessels and such that one side (14a) of the support bracket (13) reaches beneath the vein and the other side (14b) thereof reaches beneath the artery and such that the front side of the bracket facing away from the electrode shaft, on which side the contact surface (16) is located, presses against the nervus vagus (21) to be stimulated.
