摘要： An infant apparatus that has a base, a vertically movable hood (18) and a plurality of walls that, together, enclose therein an infant compartment for locating an infant. The apparatus has three of the walls that can be opened and act as doors, the lateral side walls (12) and the front end wall (14). There is an interlocking engagement between the upper periphery of the side lateral walls (12) and the hood (18) by a plurality of pins (38) that depend downwardly from the hood and engage upper brackets (36) located at the top side edges of the front and rear end walls (14,16). A latching arrangement allows all three doors to be opened with the side lateral doors (12) being latched by a movable latch member (30) on the lateral side doors that enters an opening in the brackets affixed to the front and rear end walls (14,16). To open the front end wall (16), the front end wall can be moved vertically upwardly to disengage the movable latch members from the openings in the brackets (36) on the front end wall to enable the front end wall to pivot downwardly. An alignment mechanism is also provided to insure that the movable latch members (30) correctly align with the openings in the brackets (36) when the lateral side walls (12) are being closed. By a combination of the features, the overall apparatus allows three walls to act as doors and be opened individually, or cumulatively with considerable access to the infant while maintaining good integrity to the overall apparatus.

摘要： An infant care apparatus is provided that includes a support (20) for underlying the infant within the apparatus for providing care to that infant. The infant care apparatus includes a base (12), a generally rectangular infant platform (20) supported on said base and has walls (26) that extend upwardly from the base and covered with a hood (30) to form an infant compartment for containing an infant in a controlled atmosphere. The hood (30) is specially configured so as to have a lower edge that interfits over the walls in forming the infant compartment and has side panels (46) that extend upwardly and inwardly from the sides of the hood and front and rear panels (48,50). The panels form an upper top surface that is also a flat, planar surface that preferably tapers outward toward the front panel (48) and also is inclined downward at a slight angle toward the front panel. Each of the panels is a flat, planar panel that allows the caregiver good, undistorted visibility into the infant compartment to visually monitor the infant from at least the two longitudinal sides and the front of the apparatus.

摘要： An infant care apparatus is provided that includes an infant support (24,28) for underlying the infant. A drawer (60) is provided beneath the infant support and which has a center position where it is generally aligned with the infant support and which is movable bidirectionally from that center position so that it can be moved in either direction. Thus, the care-giver can sit at either lateral side of the infant care apparatus and be positioned close to that apparatus and have room for the knees by pushing the drawer out of the way. In addition, the base is configured to have generally C-shaped base members (12) having ends (14) that extend outwardly to provide stability for the apparatus but allow a chair to be positioned next to the infant care apparatus without hitting or being obstructed by the base.

摘要： An infant warming apparatus for supporting an infant upon an infant platform. The apparatus has a procedure light (38) that is recessed into the normal horizontal overhead housing (36) of the apparatus and thus integrated into the infant apparatus. The procedure light is conveniently located above and centrally positioned with respect to the infant so as to direct the light toward the infant. The mounting provides omnidirectional movement of the procedure light and the movement can be easily controlled by means of a control handle (40) that extends downwardly with a distal end readily accessible to the caregiver. At or proximate to the distal end there is an electrical controller (66) to enable the caregiver to change the intensity of the light beam. The light beam can also be easily focused so as to allow the caregiver to direct the desired beam of light onto the area of interest (70) of the infant.

摘要： An infant care apparatus that has a infant bed tilt mechanism that can be accessed by the user in close proximity to the infant mattress and at the mattress level. When the infant care apparatus is an infant incubator, the tilt mechanism is operable internal of the infant compartment. The user can thus be carrying out some procedure on the infant within that infant compartment of the incubator or at the level of the infant bed of an infant warmer and be able to alter the tilt angle of the infant bed (20) without breaking the semi sterile conditions surrounding the infant and its close proximity by manipulation of an actuating mechanism that is situated at the level of the infant bed and in close proximity to the infant. The tilt mechanism itself has a lead screw (26) rotatably mounted to the infant bed (20) and which passes through a threaded nut (28) that is resiliently affixed to the base of the incubator or infant warmer. A ball (32) is fixed to one end of the lead screw (26) which, when the tilt mechanism is locked to keep the bed (20) at a fixed tilt, is held captive by a braking mechanism (30). The braking mechanism (30) allows the user to unlock the lead screw quietly by disengaging the ball (32) so that the lead screw is free to rotate smoothly to adjust the tilt angle of the infant bed and then relock the lead screw quietly to prevent its rotation with respect to the infant bed to lock the infant bed (20) into that new tilt edge.
