    • A conveyor construction that includes a conveyor frame assembly formed from a pair of spaced side frame members interconnected with each other by spaced cross members. The upper bed of the conveyor frame assembly is formed from individual bed plate strips attached to each of the cross members. The width of the conveyor frame assembly can be modified by the proper selection of the number of bed plate strips. The conveyor frame assembly includes a separate tensioning assembly and tracking adjustment assembly. The tracking adjustment assembly is adjusted separate from the tensioning assembly such that additional tension applied to the conveyor belt does not affect the previously selected tracking adjustment. The conveyor construction includes a center drive unit having only a single drive roller, a guide roller and a tensioning roller. The tensioning roller position is controlled by a pair of spaced tensioning cylinder.

    • A drive assembly (26) with drive sprockets (64) positioned to drive a conveyor belt (12) supported by a conveyor frame assembly (10). A locking device includes a main body that extends through each of the drive sprockets positioned along a drive shaft (32) of the conveyor assembly. The locking device includes spaced receiving notches (92) that each receive one of the drive sprockets to maintain a desired spacing between the drive sprockets when the locking device is in its locking position. The locking device is movable to a release position to independently release each of the drive sprockets from the locking device. Once released, each of the drive sprockets (64) are movable along the length of the drive shaft to facilitate cleaning of the conveyor assembly. When the locking device is in its locking position, the combination of the locking device and drive sprockets is movable along the longitudinal length of the drive shaft.

    • A conveyor construction includes a conveyor frame (22a) formed of a pair of side frame members (34,36) which are interconnected with each other via a bed plate (32) which underlies an endless conveyor belt (28). The bed plate is connected using a connection arrangement which enables the bed plate to be connected to the side frame members at any point along the length of the side frame members. The connection arrangement includes slot-type engagement structure (44,46) which extends throughout the length of each side frame member, and which is capable of receiving threaded fasteners (48), such as self-tapping screws, which extend through openings (50) formed in the bed plate. The side frame members define passages (88,90) within which gear racks (92,94) are received, and a rotatable pinion (100) is engaged with the gear racks for providing extension and retraction of the gear racks upon rotation of the pinion. The gear racks engage head plates (70,74) movably mounted to the side frame members, and a spindle (78) is rotatably mounted to and extends between the head plates. The spindle is mounted to the head plates via spherical bearings to provide proper belt tracking. The bearings are engaged with the spindle via endwise engagement structure.
