    • An agricultural power control system 10 includes a moving element (30), a power source (20), a signal generating element (32) and a torque modifying device (24). The moving element (30) is configured to engage a quantity of crop material in a cyclical manner. The power source (20) conveys power to the moving element (30). The signal generating element (32) is configured to provide a signal relating to an anticipated quantity of crop material prior to the moving element (30) engaging the quantity of crop material. The torque modifying device (24) is configured to cause the power source (24) to alter an amount of torque delivered to the moving element (30) dependent upon the signal.

    • A pre-cutter rotor (30) is disclosed. The rotor includes a central longitudinal core (32) having a central rotation axis (34) and having a plurality of tines (38) fixed to said core (32) at longitudinally spaced locations, with each of said tines (38) including a plurality of substantially radially extending points (44) spaced equal-angularly from each other about said axis (34), and each point (44) having a leading working surface (52) having a wide profile for engaging crop when the rotor (30) is rotated in a direction for moving crop rearward. In order to improve pre-cutting performance of the pre-cutter rotor (30) said working surface (52) being oriented at an angle relative to a vertical plane making a right angle with said rotation axis (34).
